What it is
This ministry provides immediate, short-term, spiritual, emotional, and physical care to individuals in crisis, involving:
- Sudden onset of severe illness
- Serious accident
- Unexpected deathImminent danger to self or others
- Domestic violence, etc.
The goal of this ministry is to provide assistance and resources to individuals in crisis - within and outside of PEPC - and to help them gain independence, self-sufficiency, and a closer spiritual relationship with Christ. "Crisis" is defined as an acute situation requiring immediate assistance.
What it is not
Ongoing or chronic situations such as marital, financial, or employment issues, unwanted pregnancy, chronic illness, emotional abuse, etc, are not considered a crisis and must be handled through pastoral care, small groups, or deacon care.
How do I access Crisis Care?
In case of an emergency, 911 should be called immediately. PEPC Crisis Care can be contacted by calling 303-841-2125.
What does Crisis Care provide?
Crisis Care is administered through a Crisis Care Team (CCT). The team leader works closely with the pastor, deacon, person, or family involved to assess immediate needs. In addition to the CCT, Stephen Ministry, Small Group Ministry, Youth Ministry, or members of other appropriately related ministries may be resourced to resolve the issue.
Exceptions
In cases such as domestic violence, a trained agency will be contacted. Authorities will also be contacted in the case of physical or sexual abuse.
