    PEPC - MOPS I & II

    MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are fundamental in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. MOPS groups exist to support our community and acts as an outreach, as well. Groups are chartered through MOPS International, which provides resources and training. MOPS International is a Christian nonprofit organization, which is headquartered here in Denver, Colorado.

    PEPC has seen the importance of this ministry and the need in our community, that we now have two MOPS groups that meet bi-monthly in the narthex. Our ministry is designed to be self-supporting. This is achieved through membership fees, fundraisers, and donations. The two MOPS groups meet twice monthly on opposite Wednesdays:

    MOPS I meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday;

    MOPS II meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday.

    Both groups meet from September through May with meetings taking place from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. During these meetings we achieve several foundational principles:

    Community- MOPS provides an open, caring, and accepting atmosphere.

    Lifestyle Evangelism- While the MOPS program is designed to be accessible and comfortable for both Christian and non-Christian women, MOPS leaders are trained to build relationships based on their common experiences and share their faith in a personal and non-threatening way.

    Mentoring- A MOPS Mentor is an experienced woman who helps new moms grow personally and as parents. (Referred to as "Titus 2" women)

    Practical Instruction- a teaching format of topical interest is given from a biblical perspective. (This is not a bible study)

    Leadership Development- Meetings are organized and run by mothers of preschoolers, who gain confidence in their leadership skills through training and experience they receive through this ministry.

    Discussion - The intimate and accepting atmosphere of a small group. This offers moms a chance the share their successes, questions, and concerns.

    Teaching- Presentations from speakers or Mentors offer inspiration and information that is relevant to the life of a mother.

    Creative Activities- Moms are given the opportunity to express themselves creatively during meetings.

    MOPPETS- the children are cared for during MOPS meetings in a parallel program called MOPPETS, where they experience love in a preschool- structured- like setting.

    Each group has a Steering Team (leadership) composed of mothers of preschoolers (with exception of the Mentor Mothers) and each of who have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

    Both groups are looking forward to many activities in the year ahead. We schedule monthly outings outside of our meeting time for members to gather at various child-related places in order to encourage bonding and relationships with each other. We also organize several fundraisers throughout the year to help support our groups financially and to foster community awareness and involvement.
